We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. How insanely difficult is it to make stuff like this? Hm...

I started out two years ago with 3D, so I guess thats is the amount of time you have to put in to make something similar like this from your own imagination.
You need to know some basic drawing to get your ideas on the paper
Some basic understanding of anatomy and cartoony characters
Some modeling knowledge, 3d software (3ds max)
Texturing knowledge... 2d software (Photoshop)
And last but not least, lots of lots of time....

i cant make hair and fur with 3DS MAX coz' it's heavy.. so, i'm starting to learn Blender..

I tried blender once could'nt understand the interface so I went back to Gmax which I used befor 3ds max
me too, i didn't understand the interface for the first time and a little bit difficult to understand the interface..
but after i read the hotkey list, it's easy to understand and quite fast to modelling.. that is my comment about blender..
